14. final project idea
helloooooooo everybody and welcome back to film theory!
...no? okay. but seriously, welcome back! today's blog post is very exciting, because we are gonna be discussing the final project idea! now, i dont think this is gonna be very surprising but we did end up going with the idea that i had previously talked about in this blog! ^^
we've developed it a little bit over time, though most things have largely stayed the same. for example, the film opening is still gonna follow the same kind of protagonist, the plot is still the same, and so is the setting. well, mostly. we only tweaked a couple of things, like changing the time from night to day, the way in which protag's father informs her he wont be home in time, how the title sequencing will work. we'll get into all of that little by little today.
first off, title sequencing
now, i know i JUST mentioned this, but i do feel this is one of the bigger changes. at first, we had planned to have the protagonist flick through old photos on a digital camera, and have the title sequencing occur through that, but we realized that would be a little difficult. we don't have a digital camera, and the photos would probably not be the easiest to get. apart from that, minor tweaks to the storyline and order of events had made this moment not make the most sense within the story, and it ended up getting scrapped. instead, we decided to have the title sequencing occur when she's getting ready. we felt this was something that would feel more casual, yet relatable. almost every woman in the world knows how it feels to be sat in front of a mirror, putting on makeup and getting all dolled up. its not an activity that allows for much multitasking, so you're left with your own thoughts and your reflection in the mirror. its an important step in a lot of people's everyday routine, and it just felt right to bring it into this specific moment in time.
it also allowed for more creativity. with shots and with the way the title sequencing would be done.
