12. brainstorming
Whew! Okay, settle in because this is gonna be a long blog, my groupmates and I have wayyyyy to many ideas to even cover, but I’ll do my best to stay on the topic of what the main talk is about. Today we’re going to talk about brainstorming, specifically about the ideas that are kind of circling around for what this blog is all about, documenting my journey in creating a glorious, absolutely showstopping and epic movie introduction!
First off, I want to refresh your mind on who is in my group. If you want to know all the details, refer to this blog post here! ˊᗜˋ
My group consists of these lovely ladies: gia, minh from mylittleworkshop.blogspot.com, and thu!
Now, ever since I started this little journey of mine, I’ve had this idea of what I wanted to do. Call me crazy, but it came to me in a dream, and I literally woke up like “I will never forgive myself if I don’t try this.” It was after my 17th birthday; I had a dream about a movie introduction that ended with the main character blowing the candles on her cake out as the finishing shot. So, I was talking about it with gia and minh during class (we filled thu in later) and we came up with something! Obviously, there are other ideas too but lets get into this one first.
For my idea, it would be a coming-of-age movie. It feels very fitting, considering the stage we’re in currently at life. Based on what we were talking about during class, the project would follow a girl on the evening of her 18th birthday, the first one she’d be having without her mom, getting ready ad reminiscing a little bit. I really do wish that I could verbalize exactly what I’m imagining for it without it sounding too complicated, but that’s the main gist of it.
For this idea, there are some pros and cons. The pros are that its simple, it doesn’t require a complex setting or anything. Just a room, a cake, and some candles. Its achievable. It’s also something that we could more accurately portray. We’re about the same age as the main character would be in the project, so we have more insight on tinier details that could really bring the story to life in those 2 minutes that we have to begin it. It wouldn’t be the same if we, for example, were trying to portray a murder mystery. We’re not cops, nor murderers, so we would have no idea on how to really make something like that feel alive. But that’s more of a personal pro than a literal one.
For cons, I feel as though we run the risk of it being too simple, though I really doubt that. Andddd… that’s really the only con that I can probably think of lol
You might be able to tell but I brought up something like a murder mystery because that was also something that came up when we were talking about the project. As it stands now, the main idea that we’re all sort of thinking about IS the 18th birthday one. Sometimes simpler is better, right?
Regardless, im sure there re gonna have to be changes to it as we progress, but im sure that m group and I will be able to adapt and still knock this out of the park! Stay tuned, I guess xP
