29. group dynamics
oh, this is an interesting topic to write about.
Our group has been doing fine, thank god, so I don’t
really have any complaints to levy. I will admit there have been some
miscommunications here and there, and it seems like we’re discovered some parts
of our personalities that clash with each other, though that’s not something
that I’d consider a serious issue. As long as we’re having fun and the project
s getting done, that’s all I can ask for.
I will say, I think this project has actually
been bringing me closer to some of my groupmates. It’s been nice to share all
of our creative ideas and find out that we actually share a lot of the same
ideals and experiences. It can get a little hectic in the school environment,
so sometimes knowing basic stuff about a friend an just fly over one’s head,
but working together both in class and outside of it has made us slow down and
get to know each other a lot more. We connect over ideas, and it often surprises
me how we all have the same idea, but different ways of communicating it. I’d
say everyone is pulling their own weight, we’ve all been working hard to make
this as best as can be, or prevent each other from doing too much and risking
the project’s completion. Admittedly, there are times when we’ve stepped out of
our designated roles and dipped into each other’s a little too much, though it
all turns out fine. Most of the time, a little cross-contamination has actually
helped make the project better. You know, like mixing paints together to create
the perfect shade.
It’s been interesting to find myself leading,
and also being led. There have been times when my groupmates have looked at me
to approval, and then times when they’ve taken charge of a situation for
themselves. In past groups, I’ve been kind of used to being the go-getter, to
motivating the team and directing them on what to do. So I’d say its nice to
have people who can keep up and actually work with me, not for me.
