11. former student work
-- former student work.
heyo! for today's blog post i've been assigned to go back and watch some former student's work and analyze it a little bit. at the beginning of the year my class was shown an example that i honestly really liked, and its stayed in my head ever since i saw it. so, i was obviously pretty excited to get the chance to see even more beautiful projects! we've got quite a bit to get through so i wont bore on an on with an introduction. lez get it!
roll call.
right off the bat i was pretty impressed. i liked the way that the credits were introduced, it was cool that they had the police lights on the car! i could tell right off the bat that there was effort put in, and it also helped establish the type of movie that it would be. setting it at nighttime also helped add to that sense of mystery, it very much felt like i had just started watching an episode of criminal minds. apart from that, i also liked how they introduced the actors. it felt pretty creative, including it above each suspect's name. speaking of which, i also really liked the way they introduced each suspect! it stayed true to the name of the movie and its feel, mystery while also feeling like a teenage drama. it also allowed for the potential motives and defenses for each suspect to be introduced to the audience without it feeling like it was forced and shoved in your face in a cheap way.
for criticisms i only really have what i personally think most people would point out. the acting is a little bit cringe and im not completely able to take it seriously, the audio and visual quality is very iphone like. but thats really it, and i cant fault the students for that. for what it is, i feel impressed! they could've easily tried to do something much more complicated, but they didn't and i think that actually worked in their favor. it was pretty simple and straight to the point.
new everything.
lets get the bad parts out of the way for this one, the first thing that i noticed about this were the sound effects. for starters, the scene where he's walking out of his room has an audio of footsteps on it. this would have all been good and well, except for the fact that the sound clip that they used was very clearly someone walking on something that was definitely not wood. grass or gravel, maybe. i understood where they were trying to go, perhaps the footsteps in the clip itself weren't loud enough or maybe it just wasn't what they were envisioning. however, it just felt like a bit of a lazy oversight to use an audio that was crunchy when your floor was just solid.
lol i went on a bit of a tangent
dreamland.
oh my godddddd, this video was so pretty! i wasn't particularly fond of the coloring, it felt like it was straight out of twilight, but i have to admit that the flowers and the way the video was shot was really pretty regardless. its definitely creative, not something i personally would have thought of doing for a movie intro, so i think they also deserve points for that. furthermore, i think it also made for really intricate storytelling. it instantly gets you interested in what's happening.
dear lover.
